Hi there! I'm Sophia, an illustrator, photographer and college lecturer with roots in Portugal and Egypt, now based in the bustling city of Cairo.
My work is all about capturing the depth of human emotions and finding ways to express them visually. I try to include that in my art as well as my lectures of Portuguese in Ain Shams University.
One thing that really drives my art is a belief in the power of vulnerability. I think there's something special about embracing our feelings, and I try to bring that into everything I create. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to publish books in Egypt, the UK, the US, and the Netherlands, which has been an incredible journey. I've also been able to work in the photography field all over Egypt.
With a mix of cultural influences and a focus on emotional connection, I aim to create artwork and photos that not only look good but also resonate on a deeper level with children, my students and, hopefully, you.
What services can you contact me for? In the illustration spectrum: Children's books, storyboards, character designs, editorial pieces, book cover illustrations. In the photography spectrum: Travel photography, modest fashion, lifestyle, products.
My goal is to invite others to explore -through illustration, photography and teaching, what it means to be human and to celebrate the full spectrum of feelings we all experience.
